PGHS Concert Band - Golden Empire Music Festival at Sheldon High School PAC.  Call time is 1 p.m.  Warm-up at 1:30 p.m.  Performance at 2:00 p.m.  Clinic at 2:30 p.m.  Attendance is mandatory unless by prior arrangement with Mr. DeWald.  It is imperative you not be late!  Festival requires concert dress (All black shirt/blouse, black pants/skirt/dress, black socks and shoes, and a tie for the guys).  *Please remember to take home your instruments on Friday or load them onto the trailer after band.

NewMarch 28 Jazz Band Performance for the Nor Cal Big Bands Preservation Society.  Elks Lodge @ Riverside Blvd and Florin Road (I-5 northbound from Elk Grove to Florin Rd west. Follow Florin Road until it dead ends on Riverside Blvd, turn left, then immediately right into the Elks Lodge parking lot).  Call time is 12 noon for a 1:00 p.m. performance.  Dressy black concert attire.  *Don't forget to bring home your instruments on Friday.

All Bands Spring Concert and Awards - This will be held at the Sheldon High School Performing Arts Center.  Call time 6:00 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. performance.  Attire is spring colors (or concert black attire if you prefer); attire should still be dressy - no jeans or sneakers.  As in the past, this concert will include all elementary bands, Albiani Middle School Beginning and Concert Bands, Pleasant Grove High School Winter Percussion, Concert Band and Jazz Band.

 May 21Senior Breakfast in the PGHS MP room.  Senior Graduation Rehearsal after breakfast in the gym - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Attendance is MANDATORY or you will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

PGHS Concert band, with seniors exempted, will be performing for the graduation at Arco Arena.  A district bus is being provided.  Call time 4:30 p.m. Bus will load and depart for Arco at 4:45 p.m.  Concert black attire.

DCI West - Drum Corps International show at Stanford Stadium @ 6:30 p.m.  Concord Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Blue Knights, Sacramento Mandarins, SF Renegades, Santa Clara Vanguard, Troopers, and Velvet Knights are performing.  There will be about 20 students from the PGHS percussion group going so that carpool may be available.  Contact Jake Tuttle for more information.  Admission starts at $15.  You can also go to dci.org for ticket information. 

 June 28 Moonlight Classic - Drum Corps International Competition @ University of Pacific - Stagg Stadium in Stockton.  Event starts at 5:30 p.m.  Same lineup as DCI West.  These are great opportunities to see some of the top drum and bugle corps in competition close to home.  General admission $20.  http://www.someinc.com/id4.html

Band Picture Day - You'll need to have your full uniform (minus the hat) at school.  Don't forget black shoes and black socks.  Group, buddy and individual pictures will be taken during 4th period/lunch.  Please fill out the pre-order envelope and have payment enclosed.  Checks are payable to La Verne Gonzales, due on picture day.  Report to the Band Room at the start of 4th period to change!

Marching band & Colorguard - Parade of Lights.  This performance will include both PGHS and KAMS Marching/Concert Band students.  Call time at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Derr St. and Elk Grove Blvd. (about 1/2 mile west of the Waterman CVS).  Wear your band uniform with a Santa hat instead of your marching hat.  The parade starts at Derr Street and ends at Adams Street.  Tree lighting ceremony is immediately following the parade at Elk Grove Blvd. and Walnut.  Students are encouraged to light their instrument with battery operated strings of lights in white or red (available at CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and Michaels).  See the Home page for more instructions.  Parade steps off at 6 p.m.

Feb. 13

1st Winter Percussion Competition at Rodriguez High School - 5000 Red Top Road, Fairfield.  Call time 6:30 a.m. in front of PGHS.  Driving directions: From our school, go to Hwy 99 or I-5 northbound and take the ramp for San Francisco (I-80 westbound).  Proceed on I-80 about 43 miles; watch for the Red Top Road exit (after the 680 turn-off).  Turn left off the exit onto Red Top Road and proceed to Watt Dr.  Turn left on Watt Dr. and right into the spectator's parking lot.  Oakbrook Drive is likely to be coned off.  If you have equipment, go all the way to Lopes Rd. and make a U-turn to access the trailer parking lot.  TRAVEL TIME IS minimum 66 MINUTES.

Festival Jazz Band to perform at the Woodcreek High School Jazz Festival in Roseville.  Call time 6:00 p.m. so that you can see other bands before we go on.  Warm-up at 7:35 p.m., performance at 8:00 p.m., and clinic at 8:25 p.m.  Performance is mandatory for all Festival Jazz Band members.  Dress is ALL BLACK concert attire - no exceptions!  Men must wear a tie.   There is an admission charge (performers are free) of ~$5.00, which will get you into all performances that day.  *Don't forget to bring home your instrument on Friday!

 

Driving directions:  Take Hwy 99 to I-80 (Reno). Take exit #102 Riverside Ave./Auburn Blvd. and go toward Roseville/Riverside Ave.  Get into the left lane right away and take the next left on Cirby Way.  Turn right on Foothills Blvd., then left on Baseline Road.  Turn right on Woodcreek Oaks Blvd.  The school will be on the left @ 2551 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd.  Driving time is approximately 45 minutes from Elk Grove.  Click here for map.

 Mar. 1Jazz Band performance for Academic Awards Night.  Call time 6:00 p.m. @ PGHS band room.  Dressy black concert attire.  Performance from 6:30-7:00 p.m.  For students who are attending the ceremony, please take your instrument back to the band room before joining your classmates in the gym.  Those not attending the ceremony will be dismissed at 7:15.  Ceremony should conclude by 8 p.m.

Winter Percussion Competitions at Fairfield High School and at Armijo High School.  Call time 7 a.m. at PGHS.  Performance at Armijo High School at 11 a.m.  Performance at Fairfield High School at 1:30 p.m.  Awards at 10 p.m.  Return to PGHS around midnight.
