 Sept. 8Fall Percussion Rehearsal #2 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  PGHS Band Room.  Regular Fall Percussion rehearsals will be held on Monday nights from 5 to 8 p.m.  
Sept. 11 Jazz Band - Spotlight on Elk Grove.  SES Hall in Elk Grove.  Call time is 4:15 p.m. for a 4:45 p.m. performance.  Dressy black concert attire (black shirt/blouse, black pants/skirt/dress, ties for the guys, black socks and shoes).  Students should be done around 6 p.m.  (This event is eligible for community service hours.  You can download a prior approval form from our homepage).

Marching band - 4th home football game @ Sheldon Stadium (vs. Monterey Trail).  Call time 6 p.m.  Full uniform.

 Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008Marching band - Veteran's Day Parade.  Call time 9:30 a.m. for all percussion, sousaphones, and baritone saxophones.  Call time for the rest of the band is 10:00 a.m.  Meet in the Community Services District parking lot on Elk Grove Blvd. (across the street from Joseph Kerr Middle School).  Be aware that the streets will be closed to traffic around 10 a.m.  Full uniform.  Parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. sharp. 
 Nov. 14 Marching band - 5th home football game @ Sheldon Stadium (vs. Jesuit).  Call time 6 p.m.  Full uniform.

Albiani Concert and Combined Jazz bands:  Fall Concert @ Black Box Theater, PGHS campus.  Call time 6:15 PM for 7:00 PM performance.  Concert dress:  black shirt or blouse, black pants or skirt, black socks and shoes. Boys wear ties please. 
 Nov. 26-28Thanksgiving Holiday
 Saturday, Nov. 29
Marching band - Parade of Lights.  Call time approximately 5 p.m. on Kent St.,  2 blocks west of the Waterman Longs on Elk Grove Blvd.  Wear your band uniform with a Santa hat instead of your marching hat.  Students are encouraged to light their instrument with battery operated strings of lights in white or red (available at Longs, Walmart, Walgreens and Michaels).  There are a limited number of light strings available for sale in the band room - $2.00 for a string of 10; $4.00 for a string of 20.  Bring cash to purchase them or a check payable to the Pleasant Grove High Band Boosters.

All bands Winter Concert - Venue: Sheldon Performing Arts Center @ Sheldon High School.  Call time 6:00 p.m. for all bands.  Elementary bands (Elk Grove Elementary, Pleasant Grove Elementary, McKee Elementary) begin performing at 6:30 p.m. with the other bands immediately following.  It is imperative you arrive on time!  This is a mandatory performance!  Students are expected to stay until the concert has completely ended.  Wear all black dressy concert attire:  black shirt or blouse, black pants, skirt, or dress, black shoes and socks.  Men wear a tie.

Combo and Jazz Bands in Competition at Folsom High School, Prairie City Road, Folsom.  Call time TBA.  There is an admission charge for parents/visitors of $12/person.  Dress is all black concert attire - no exceptions!  Men must wear a tie.  Driving directions:  Hwy 50 east to Prairie City Road exit, turn left over the freeway.  The campus parking lot is immediately to the right, after the freeway.  Driving time is about 45 minutes from the PGHS campus.

Winter Homecoming Dance
 

Feb. 6

Marching Band - Men's Basketball Game vs. Florin High.  Call time is 6:30 PM in PGHS Band Room.  Tip off at 7:15 PM.  Wear your band shirt and jeans.
 Feb. Winter Percussion Competition @ Rodgriguez High School, 5000 Red Top Road, Fairfield.  Call time TBA but will be EARLY!!!  Driving directions:  from our school, go to Hwy 99 or I-5 northbound and take the ramp for San Francisco (I-80 westbound).  Proceed on I-80 about 43 miles; watch for the Red Top Road exit. Turn left off the exit onto Red Top Road and proceed to Oakbrook Drive and turn left.  TRAVEL TIME IS minimum 66 MINUTES, so leave yourself some time in case of traffic, slowdowns, etc.

Play-a-thon at the Lewis home. Students may participate for the entire event or just a portion, collecting pledges accordingly.  Pledge packets and an information sheet are available on the band room white board.  Completed pledge forms and collected monies will be due .

Festival Jazz Band to perform at the Woodcreek High Jazz Festival. Call time TBA.  Dress is all black dressy concert attire - no exceptions!  Men must wear a tie.   There is an admission charge (performers are free) of $5.00. 

Driving directions:  Take Hwy 99 to I-80 (Reno). Take exit #102 Roseville/Riverside Ave./Auburn Blvd. and go north on Auburn Blvd. toward Roseville, which turns into Riverside Ave.  Go about 1/2 mile and turn left on Cirby Way.  Turn right on Foothills Blvd., then left on either Baseline Road or Junction Blvd.  Turn right on Woodcreek Oaks Blvd.  The school will be on the left @ 2551 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. Drive time is approximately 50 minutes from Elk Grove.

Jazz Band Performance for the Nor Cal Big Bands Preservation Society.  Elks Lodge @ Riverside Blvd and Florin Road (I-5 northbound from Elk Grove to Florin Rd west. Follow Florin Road until it dead ends on Riverside Blvd, turn left, then immediately right into the Elks Lodge parking lot).  Call time is 12 noon for a 1:00 p.m. performance.  Dressy black concert attire.

PGHS Report Card Pick-Up Night - Parent Teacher Conferences - 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. - Start by picking up report card in the Cafeteria,  then visit the Gym for teacher conferences.

1)  Jazz Band Performance for Incoming 7th grader orientation, KAMS multi-purpose room, 9 AM-9:20 AM. Jazz students should be able to return to their regularly scheduled classed no later than 10 AM.

2)  Honors Band Musician Seating - Sheldon High School 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM.  Transportation will be provided to and from PGHS.

3)  AP Information Meeting - PGHS multi-purpose room - 5:30 PM

PGHS Graduation Ceremony @ Arco Arena.  Time TBA.  Seniors report to the Security entrance below the southeast entrance of Arco Arena. 


PGHS Concert band and Albiani Concert band, with seniors exempted, will be performing for the graduation at Arco Arena.  A district bus is being provided.  Call time TBA. 


Sober Grad Night to follow for seniors.

KAMS Promotion Ceremony - Albiani Concert Band.  Students can be dropped off by their parents by 8:30 AM at Sheldon Stadium and report to the field level stage to perform.  Students needing transportation should advise Mr. DeWald immediately so he can make arrangements for you to ride on the district buses provided.  The bus will be leaving from Albiani for Sheldon at 8 a.m. sharp.  Albiani students will be checking their school-owned instruments in after the concert.

Band Camp.  Marching Band 3:00-6:00 p.m.; Jazz Band 6:30-7:30 p.m.  Uniform fittings.  Bring water bottle(s) and a sack lunch/ snack daily except Wednesday, when dinner will be provided by the Booster Club (pizza).  End-of-camp party hosted at the Sterk residence on Friday, August 22, 6:30-9 p.m.

Percussion Camp.  Rehearsal 1 - 3 p.m. every day before band camp

First Day of School - No zero period Jazz Band today  
 Aug. 25 Fall Percussion Rehearsal #1 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  PGHS Band Room.  Regular Fall Percussion rehearsals will be held on Monday nights from 5 to 8 p.m. (except Labor Day). 
 Aug. 26  PGHS/KAMS - First day of zero period Jazz Band - 7:00 a.m. PGHS Band Room 
 Aug. 26  Instrument Rental Night @ Albiani band room 6:00 p.m.  Parents need to attend with their student to sign contract, pay deposit, etc.  This event is open to both PGHS and KAMS students who want to rent instruments. 
 Aug. 27 Senior Parent Orientation Night - 6:30-7:30 p.m.  PGHS Multi-purpose Room.  Participation is STRONGLY encouraged, if not mandatory.
 Aug 29 Band Picture Day - You'll need to bring your full uniform (minus the hat) to school.  Don't forget black shoes and socks.  Group and individual pictures will be taken during 4th & 5th period/lunch.  Please fill out the pre-order envelope and have payment enclosed.  Checks are payable to La Verne Gonzales, due on picture day.  Report to the Band Room at the start of 4th period!
